The
Ministry of Health of Seychelles has removed all restrictions
for travellers arriving from from former SARS affected countries
as from Monday July 7, 2003.

July 8, 2003 - The Ministry of Health of Seychelles
has removed all restrictions for travellers arriving from
SARS - affected countries as from Monday 7th July 2003.
This was announced yesterday at a press conference held at the
Ministry of Health headquarters at Victoria Hospital.
The announcement comes twenty days after the World Health Organisation
had removed China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada from the list
of countries affected with the SARS epidemy. Singapore, Philippinnes,
Vietnam and Thailand were removed from the list last month.
The Ministry of Health has also announced that it is closing down the
SARS Quarantine Centre at Cap Ternay but the SARS Isolation Centre
at Anse Royale would remain in case new SARS cases were detected.
The Ministry has also published an information leaflet explaining
the different type of health precautions to be taken whilst travelling
abroad. These leaflets are being distributed at all points of
entry and departure in Seychelles, local travel agents and onboard
all Air Seychelles flights.
Meanwhile, the WHO has issued a worldwide warning that all countries
should maintained strict surveillance over a period of one year
should any new SARS cases emerge.
Air
Seychelles resumes its weekly Singapore flight as from tonight
following a three-month suspension due to the SARS outbreak in
the Far East. The weekly Air Seychelles flights to Singapore
will depart on Tuesdays at 2015hrs and arrives back in Seychelles
at 0315am on Thursday early morning.
