AIR
SEYCHELLES LAUNCHES E-TICKETING ON DOMESTIC ROUTE
Victoria — April
05, 2004 — Air Seychelles launches electronic
ticketing for passengers travelling to and from Praslin.
The introduction of the electronic ticketing or e-ticketing
will begin on a trial basis with the sale of tickets available
from the Mahe and Praslin domestic terminals for passengers travelling
to and from Praslin. Eventually other travel agents based on
Mahe will also be able to offer the same services.
The national airline's general manager for domestic operations,
Mr Eddie d'Offay has said: "E-ticketing is the new form
of travel document currently being used worldwide whereby modern
technology is used to procure efficient service and easy administrative
processing".
With e-ticketing, a customer will make his/her booking and pay
his/her fare as normally done. The purchase of a ticket is then
registered in the computerised reservations system and a printed
itinerary with a reference number will be given to the customer
instead of the usual ticket.
Upon arrival at the domestic terminal either on Mahe or Praslin,
the customer will present his/her itinerary and national identity
card or passport. The check-in staff will search the customer's
reference in the computerised reservations system and assist
with immediate check-in.
E-ticketing also eliminates the risk of losing one's ticket
as the itinerary will still be available in the computerised
reservations system upon check-in.
